What and Why
What
Shapes are all around us, and they are like building blocks that make up the world we see.
Imagine you have a big box of toys: some are round like a ball, some are square like a block, some are triangle-shaped like a slice of pizza, and some are rectangle-shaped like a book. These different toys have different shapes!
Shapes help us understand and describe things. For example, when we talk about a circle, we mean something round like a wheel. When we talk about a square, we mean something with four equal sides, like a window.
Why
Now, why are shapes important? Well, they help us understand how things fit together and how they work. Think about when you’re playing with building blocks. You need to find the right shape to stack them up and build something cool.
